Year 2: Guest Log from Jan - Dec 2000
My name is Paul Franklin Lynskey and I live in Shallowater Texas, which is close to Lubbock. My e-mail address is paullynskey@Yahoo.com. I ran across this page by typing my name into a search engine, and found this website. My father is Jimmy Franklin Lynskey who is the son of Walter Franklin Lynskey (dec. Nov. 15, 1957). His father was Franklin Henry Lynskey. Franklin was born March 16, 1856 in Chicago, married Dec. 30, 1880 in Denton, Texas to Mary Elizabeth Browning, died March 10, 1911 in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was buried in the Lynskey Cemetary at Thornbury, Clay County, Texas. I also know that Franklin's father, of which I do not know his name, died in Chicago in 1870. A Lynskey reunion was held in Lubbock August 10, 1993, in which approximately 70 were in attendance. Family from all over the country including California, Ohio, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Texas were there. We have had two more since then, but some have lost interest and several have died. Another reunion was tentatively set for the July 4th weekend of 2000, but I have not heard if these plans have been set for sure. I have enjoyed this page, and plan to return often. Thank you for spending your time and effort in putting this page together.
Chuck, you're doing a brilliant job. I'm still trying to trace my ggrandfather, Michael Lynskey's birth (c1858/60)details in Ireland, but not having any luck. Believe he came from Galway area. He had 2 daughters, Florence(b1882) and Bridget (b 1884)(She was my grandma) If any other Lynskeys can help, I'd be very grateful. My email is patappleby@ng199rf.freeserve.co.uk Keep up the good work. Rgds Pat Appleby
Lovely to find Lynskeys. Mine are: Martin Lynsky, farmer married Mary Cronelly. Their son Martin b. 1833 Aughrim Parish, Co Galway, married Eliza Naghten 1867, Ballinasloe. After Martin died, Eliza and their son Laurence, my g-grandfather, came in 1891 to Chicago. I'd love to hear of any connections. Judy, email DolanMendel@AOL.com

Michael Lynskey, and their other brother is john andrew lynskey. i'm not sure of my great-grandparent's names. my grandfather was wallace lynskey - he passed away in 1991 - and he was married to my grandmother, veronica (dolan) lynskey - she passed away in february of 1999. wonderful, wonderful people! I saw the suggestion of a possible lynskey reunion in CT summer 2002....terrific idea! especially since i'm from CT! i'd like to learn whatever i can about the lynskey's... i understand that your goal is to provide content, however, i realize that once i go to a page and then return to the homepage, i cannot access another page...i must "re-enter" the site and view pages one at a time... anyway, this is a great thing, and i appreciate your taking the time to provide it! best regards, allison mccoy amccoy@1to1.com

Hi big brother! I love this website. I too have fond memories of Grandpa and Grandma Lynskey. They are two of the most interesting and amazing people that I have ever known. It has always been of great interest to me to keep in touch with them. Grandma has always expressed gracious appreciation for the letters and the pictures especially that the letters were all clearly labeled and dated. One time when I went to visit her with Dad and Michael Jamrosz when he was one year old, Grandma had me write on her other pictures so she could remember who they were and when they were taken. Grandpa had a good time visiting with Michael and sat on the floor with him while he was in his walker. Nicholas and Jessica had visited with Grandpa and Grandma when they were two and one, which was prior to Michael's visit. They have seen the pictures from when they were little and know the enthusiasm and hopes that I have for them to get to see Grandma and her getting to spend some time with them. I recently sent a five page booklet to Grandma Lynskey with pictures that you put onto our computer of the children and updating her on the current happenings with Steve, myself, and the children. I hope Grandma will enjoy it in her new home. (Janice Jamrosz at sjjammers@aol.com this email is good until September 14 when we will be having Roadrunner installed. That was the earliest they could do it so we will be off AOL after that. P.S. Thank you for the time and effort you spent on the computers and Nick said to thank you for the cribbage pegs)9/10/00
Hi Chuck, this is Michael W. Lynskey from New Jersey. My wife and I are planning a trip to Ireland next summer. I definitely want to make time to look up any Lynskey's in the Athenry area. I am seeking info on Linskey's from Maine. My mother is Eleanor Linskey Flint b.1938, daughter of William Linskey and Mabel Durgin. William Linskey was born 4-3-1909 (d.2-2-1997) in Maine, son of Joseph Patrick Linskey (b.6-28-1886, d 1-22-1938) and Kate Charlotte Goding. I do not know for certain Joseph's parents. I would welcome any information available. I do know there is a relation to Lynskeys (? Joseph's parents or grandparents) who left Galway on the Seabird in 1848. Please share any information. By the way, Portland is home to many generations of Linskey's. And, we know we spell it wrong! Heather Davis. hflintnh@aol.com
My name is Anna Lynskey. My father Martin Joseph Lynskey was born in Ardmore point near Binghamstown in 1925. His parents were John Lynskey(1889)and Margaret Diamond(1900). They moved to Meath in 1939 with many other mayo families (Ginnelleys,Diamonds,Heffernans,Gaughans). I would love to hear from Mayo Lynskeys. My e-mail address is Henry@tagteacher.net
I can't believe that there is a Lynskey Web site. Well done. I am from Belmullet, well near Bangor-Erris Really in Co. Mayo. I did not realise that there were so many of us!
Hi my great grandmother was a Lynskey. It is the one branch of the family I know little about. Her name was May Anne (Margaret) Lynskey born circa 1867 in Gurteen, Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo. Her father was Pat Lynskey (same location) and her Mother Mary Regan of Knockanara Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo. I've been reviewing old Mayo records and I can find very few references to Lynskey at that time. My Aunt has told me that the surname is derived from the Irish for Lynch - does anyone know when that version of the name was used as opposed to Lynskey. If anyone has any info on this I'd love to hear from them.
Niamh Flanagan (niamhflanagan@eircom.net).
