Obituary Mr Edward
Lynskey
Mr Edward Lynsky, fourth son of Mr William Lynskey, Wilson's Siding,
Ohoka, died there on Sunday. He was a trooper in the tenth contingent to
South Africa, and when he returned, his health was not so robust as when
he went away. He was able, however to attend to farm work, and was about
till Friday last when he complained of feeling unwell. The immediate cause
of his death was jaundice. The late Mr Lynskey, who was very popular with
all who knew him, was thirty three years of age, and was unmarried.

Mr Michael Lynskey
The death of Mr M Lynskey, who had resided for 55 years at Kaiapoi,
took place yesterday. He was connected with the Magistrate's Court of
Kaiapoi, Rangiora, Leithdield, Amberley and Oxford, till he retired on
superannuation some years since. In 1884 he became clerk to the Licensing
Committee of the Ashley County, and in 1893 clerk of the Court at Kaiapoi,
in addition to clerk and baliff to the Rangiora, Oxford, and Amberely
Courts. In 1898 he was appointed first Registrar of Pensions, the duties
of which were very heavy for two years, and he acted as returning officer
for the Kaiapoi electorate. He successfully carried on a cattle farm at
Ohoka, adjacent to that of his brother, Mr William Lynskey. His two eldest
sons, Thomas and William, and his wife pre-deceased him. He leaves several
sons, including Mr M. J. Lynskey, an inspector in the Wellington education
district, and Mr P. Lynskey, on the staff of the Bank of New Zealand at
Christchurch. His daughters include Mrs A. C. Nottingham (Halswell), Miss
Lynskey, and Mrs M. Leahy (Oxford). Mr Lynskey was a native of Mayo,
Ireland, and arrived in Canterbury by the ship Chrysolite in 1861.

LYNSKEY - On October 18, 1945 at the
residence of her daughter, Mrs E. Ryan, 113 Balmoral Road, Mount Eden,
Mary Anne, beloved wife of the late Thomas and loving mother of Michael
Maurice, Reginald, Ella (Mrs Kissick) and Evelyn (Mrs Ryan); in her 78
year - R.I.P. Requiem mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Good
Shepherd, Balmoral, tommorrow (Saturday) at 11:15 for Hillsborough
Cemetary. No flowers by request.

Mr V S Lynskey A well
known personality in the dairy industry. Mr Vincent Sebastian Lynskey died
in Wellington at the age of 67 on Thursday. He retired recently from the
secretaryship of the Town Milk Producers's Fedaration. Mr
Lynskey was born in North Canterbury and worked in a number of Government
departments until his appointment as accountant at the milk marketing
division of the Marketing Department in 1945. At
that time the division worked on the implementaion of the national milk
scheme under the Milk Act 1944, involving the establisment of co-operative
milk marketing organisations. In 1949 Mr Lynskey was appointed secretary
when the Town Milk Prodcers' Federation was established and he held the
position until his retirement in 1972. Mr Lynskey was
also secretary of the new Zealand Federation of Milk Stations and the New
Zealand Sharemilkers' Association. After his retirement he practised as a
chartered accountant in Wellington. Requien mass, celebrated
at St Mary of the Angels Church this morning, was attended by a wide
circle of friends and members of his family. Hei s survived by hus wife
and three children.

Chathams chief dies
Edward Joseph Lynskey, a former commissioner for the Chatham Islands, died
in Wellington yesterday. He was 72. Mr Lynskey spent 43 years
with the Lands and Surverys Department becoming assistant director general
of lands before his retirement in 1969. He was appointed
commissioner for the Chatham Islands in 1972 and retired in 1979 when he
was succeeded by a former director-general of the Post Office, Mr W J
Sewell. Mr Lynskey was born in Kaiapoi and educated as St Bedes
College and Canterbury University. He is survived by a wife, a son and a
daughter.
