Welcome All Lynskeys... Happy 2007! Webmaster
I am really lookig for LYNCH(E)Y which I understand is a form of LYNSKEY. My GGG grandmother Sarah LYNCHEY and a son Thomas were sentenced on the Isle of Man in 1833 and transported, separately, to Australia in 1835. She was a widow born in County Down, she brought 2 daughters and a son with her leaving 1 son behind as he was too old (over 8)for the then regulations. Her husband may have been James or Michael and it appears that all but there last daughter were born in Ireland. Her maiden name appears to have been MULLEN or MULLINS or similar. I wish I could find more on this family Peter Strauss Melbourne Australia
I was wondering if anyone can help as I have hit a stumbling block. Thomas Lynskey was born c1847 in Mayo county he married Mary Durkin of Killasser, nr Swinford, Mayo in 1867 in Bowling, Bradford, Yorkshire. They had numerous children Mary, Bridget, Martin, Henry, Annie, Elizabeth and Catherine. Thomas' father was Henry Lynskey whose profession on the marriage certificate was 'farmer'. I can't find any trace of Henry or any of Thomas' siblings who may have moved elsewhere. Does this ring a bell to anyone? My email is caroline_cannon@hotmail.com if anyone has any information. Thank you for any help Caroline
Hello - Some time ago I posted a search for my mother who is or was Ellen or Helen Rita Lynskey. She will be about 73 now. My e mail address has changed to the following ....... Repheljnr@supanet.com My old name e mail address was robert.woodget@btinternet.com Phelps was my father's name and is on my birth certificate along with my mother's details. I have never seen a picture or had any contact with anyone that knew her apart from my father who is now dead. It tokk me ten years to find him so I don't give up too easily ! I'd very much like to contact my mother or anyone that knew her and would appreciate any assistance available. Thanks, Bob
I am working with a friend on her Co. Mayo Lynskeys. I thought this winter at this site I found an Anthony Lynski listed who in Co. Mayo married a Catherine no last name given. The list was last updated on November 11, 2002. "Most ( of the names on the list) are from mid-late 1800's - some early 1900's." We are looking for an Anthony Lynskey who married a Catherine Doyle. They were married by 1876. They lived in Crossmolina, Co Mayo. Per a letter from Patrick Moylett "Tony Lynskey was a carrier in pre-railway days. With his grey horse, he went in early years from Crossmolina to Dublin 165 miles, three days each way, according as the railways were extended from Dublin Westwards, he limited his journey to suit until 1865, the railway was extended to Ballina (8 miles from Crossmolina), he then had to confine himself to local work. In 1892, his grey horse died". Tony Lynskey was still living in early 1894. Tony had either a sister or more probably a daughter Mary Lynskey who married a Hastings. Tony and Catherine definitely had a daughter Bridget Mary Lynskey who left Mayo to stay with relatives in Scranton Pennsylvania USA in about 1893. We think she was born on June 2, 1876 in Co. Mayo probably Crossmolina. In the US Bridget Mary Lynskey married Thomas Moylett whom she knew from Crossmolina. They lived in Brooklyn NY and had a large family. She died of the flu on April 13, 1920 in Brooklyn. Her husband Thomas Moylett died in Manhattan on July 14th 1936. Thomas Moylett had worked in public transit possibly as a streetcar conductor. Bridget Mary Lynskey Moylett had a cousin Ellen O'Boyle (a picture still exists). Bridget had other O' Boyle cousins in NY and probably Doyle cousins in or near NY. I am at maryquirkt1 at yahoo dot com (in caps for clarity MARYQUIRKT1)
Hi, I return. I contacted you in 2001 on the Lynskeys and we determined then we probably arean't related. However, my great-grandparents were Anthony Lynskey and Catherine Doyle. You do not list Catherine's last name in your listing, and you have Anthony's name misspelled. There were from County Mayo. I finally got a rootsweb software package and am inputing data. I will get back to you. I couldn't bring up your guest book from your spreadsheet so I am doing it this way. Jane at quicksand06@bellsouth.net. I used to be with aol.

Hi! My great great grandmother was Mary (nee Morrisroe) Durkan b. November 2, 1865 in Swinford, County Mayo. She married William Durkan of the Swinford area. Her parents were Michael Morrisroe and Catherine Lynskey. I am trying to confirm Catherine Lynskey's parents names. Does anyone know if her parents were John Lynskey b. 1791 and Catherine McNicholas b. 1801 of Meelick and Kilconduff? Any information is much appreciated. siobhancafferty@hotmail.com Cheers! Hey fellow Lynskeys im in science class and really bored...just thought i'd say hi! HI!
Greetings from Australia. My name is Brian O'Brien (genology can take me back to Brian Boru, the last great king of all Ireland). My wife and I migrated to Australia from New Zealand in 1997. My mother was a Lynskey (grand daughter of William 1846-1923 who came out to NZ with Sarah Moran on the "Bluejacket" in 1866) and I have some details of the branch from Michael 1874-1948, many of the details are not shown in your family tree so will attempt to fill in some gaps. I have other records which I can send later. Keep up the great work.
Greetings again - I have kept my e-mail address separate. If you send yours I will e-mail a chart of Lynskey for your records. kincora@activ8.net.au Brian O'Brien
